Pando is an inspiring generative sequencer for improvising and composing electronic musicians.
Fed by MIDI input from a keyboard performer, the sequencer maintains a stochastic markov chain analysis of the performers melodic and harmonic decisions. This is used to seed a sequence which evolves semi-randomly over time, constrained by the probabilities of musical intervals present in the players performance.
The result is a continuously morphing musical machine that follows the harmonic language set out by the performer, while offering surprises in the form of emergent melodies.
